Zebra Cocoa & Chocolate Crepes – Stunning and fluffy crepes with contrasting vanilla and cocoa stripes — a playful, easy-to-make dessert loved by the whole family!
Ingredients:
🏷️ For the base batter:
- 🥛 1⅔ cups milk (400 ml)
- 🌾 1⅓ cups all-purpose flour (160 g)
- 🥚 2 eggs
- 🍬 1 tbsp sugar (18 g)
- 🧂 a pinch of salt
- 🛢️ 1 tbsp oil (10 ml)
🏷️ For the cocoa batter:
- 🍫 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 🥛 1 tbsp milk (15 ml)
- 🍬 1 tsp powdered sugar
Instructions:
🏷️ Preparing the batter:
- Place all the ingredients for the base batter in a bowl and blend until smooth and lump-free.
- Separate 1 cup of the batter and transfer it to another bowl.
- Add the cocoa powder, milk, and powdered sugar to it, then mix again until homogeneous.
- Let both batters rest for 10 minutes.
🏷️ Cooking the pancakes:
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Pour the cocoa batter into a squeeze bottle or sauce bottle for controlled pouring.
- Draw a circle in the pan using the cocoa batter and let it cook for 5–10 seconds.
- Pour a full ladle of the plain batter over it and cook for 30–40 seconds, until the edges turn golden.
- Flip the pancake and cook for another 20 seconds on the other side.
- Repeat with the remaining batter.
🏷️ Serving:
- Stack the pancakes while still warm to keep them soft.
- Serve with melted chocolate, hazelnut spread, fruit, or pastry cream, as desired.
